Let's talk about our livestock guardian dogs, aka the fluffy protectors of our farm! These majestic creatures are like a bunch of quirky kids to us. Each one has its own unique personality - from the gentle giant to the playful troublemaker. But one thing's for sure, we absolutely adore them!
Our squad is mostly Great Pyrenees, with a bit of Anatolian Shepherd and Akbash mixed in. They have the trademarks you may have heard of from these breeds; double-dew, digging, barking, roaming, escape artists, with a huge desire to please and be loved.
Watching an LGD in action is amazing. They form deep bonds with livestock (and humans) and are ready to unleash their protective instincts at a moment's notice. Unlike typical guard dogs, these fluffballs prefer scaring off threats with their booming barks and intimidating presence before resorting to a brawl. Talk about being tough yet tender-hearted!
Our four-legged protectors work best in pairs, with each duo having its own roles - one sticking close to the herd while the other keeps a vigilant eye out for any sneaky predators. They are somewhat nocturnal, especially during those hot summer months. You'll find them chilling in the shade by day and patrolling like furry superheroes by night, safeguarding our precious animals.
